Ten years ago, I was you.
No business background. Nobody around me owned a business. I grew up on "get the stable job and do the right thing". So I did. I got the degree, I worked hard, and I climbed the ladder fast.
A career with a ceiling
I knew I'd reach the highest band. I also knew that meant only ever earning that amount, and asking permission for every birthday, every summer and every sick day.
A new gym, and nights
The gym was new and every shift took me away from it. When you treat your business like a side hustle, it stays a side hustle until it fades away.
"Will I be here on Christmas morning?"
Expecting my son made it personal. If your child is sick, you can't just stay home. You apply for leave.
A bank contract, and my pin kept live
I didn't jump in one go. I moved to bank shifts as a safety net and kept my registration live while I ran an aesthetics clinic.
One day on the ward I'll never forget
I went home that night and knew I wouldn't go back. I was going to live life on my own terms.
From one-to-one, to one-to-many
Aesthetics was one client at a time. The gym served many at once, and it overtook everything else. Today I run Synergy, I do the school run every morning, and I help other women make the same move.
